Waterfront in Bennington County means rivers and ponds rather than large lakes. The Battenkill runs through Arlington, Sunderland, and Manchester and is among the best known trout rivers in the northeast, which gives frontage on it a particular appeal. Elsewhere the county holds frontage on the Mettawee, the Walloomsac, and a scattering of small ponds. Inventory is consistently thin, usually around a dozen active listings, so the right property is worth moving on. Browse Manchester homes with a basement or explore Bennington colonial homes.
