In the winter you can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Residents and visitors alike have access to world-class skiing and snowboarding at five major ski resorts that are within 45 minutes or less of the area - Killington, Pico, Okemo, Stratton and Bromley.
And the rest of the year, there is plenty of hiking, biking, fishing, and caving to enjoy. Visit the Green Mountain National Forest and you may spot some local wildlife, including moose, black bear, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and beavers. These four towns share a valley in the foothills of the fabulous Green Mountain National Forest, with a long history of agriculture and dairy farming. Currier Memorial School (Danby and Mount Tabor): This PK-5 school has a little over 100 students and is dedicated to supporting students and families in any way they can. This commitment to serving the community results in a great learning environment for the kids to grow.
Tinmouth Elementary School: A highly-rated public school located in Tinmouth, VT with around 50 students in grades PK-6 with a student-teacher ratio of 10 to 1.

Getting Here and There
The Danby area is situated halfway between Rutland and Manchester, Vermont along State Route 7. The area is within 4 hours of all the major metropolitan areas of the northeast.
The region is served by train in nearby Albany, New York (approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes away), providing easy and reliable access to New York City. The closest major international airport is also in Albany, and there is a regional airport close by in Rutland, Vermont (25 minutes away) with daily service to Boston.
